The Untold Tales🛫

“Everyone deserves the chance to fly!”

Wicked, The Musical

Hello! How are you? I hope that you’re well. Today, I’d like to do a more personal post about my recent trip to New York City! The goal is for this to be a type of journal from my trip, we’ll see how that plays out : )

So I titled this post The Untold Tales, and to be honest, it’s because I just like the mystery of the title. So New York, it was a trip idea that I thought of the first week in January when I decided I needed a vacation, and I mean NEEDED. Work was unbelievably stressful because of covid isolations and I was doing more work than I should have and definitely don’t get paid enough to do. So one night I went home early because it was too much and I texted my cousin. She lives in New York and I basically said, “hey, I need a break from my life, can I come visit you for a couple of days?” And the next morning I booked 4 nights at a hostel and bought a plane ticket.

I decided to fly into New York on a Thursday and my flight went perfectly. I mean security was five minutes, my flight boarded, took off, and landed on time. I mean to the minute. Everything just went perfectly and I checked into my room in the afternoon and met my roommates which were pretty dang cool. One of them had been traveling non-stop for about a year and was loving it. I personally think that’s amazing. To be able to do something you love which is unconventional in our society is incredible to me. To be able to travel and be your own person 1,000% is so insanely cool.

So I saw the normal things with my cousin: The MET, Central Park (in pouring freezing rain I might add), overly expensive coffee shops that we didn’t realize were fancy before sitting down, Times Square, Wicked on Broadway, and lower Manhattan. We went thrift shopping in Brooklyn, walked by the Empire State Building in the cold, and visited Strand Bookstore. There were for sure some anxious moments that put a damper on parts of the day, but it was an amazing trip nonetheless, and I got much closer to my amazing cousin.

I learned so much about myself from this trip. I’ve been thinking for a couple months about traveling more, whether it be with Hannah, friends, or on my own, and it’s made me both happy and nervous to think about. I had a tarot reading done for me by an amazing medium and the focus was on my life going forward and travel. Basically, should I pursue this? The cards jumped out of the deck and basically screamed yes. That’s a really cool thing in my opinion and it gives me more hope for what’s to come in my life.

Thanks for reading if you got this far, I appreciate you! Until next time…

Love,

Stan (they/them/theirs)
